Remember this sweater? Well, as I was packing my sweaters into their new sweater box, I realized that I simply didn't love this sweater very much. So, I ripped it out and reused my yarn to make the Iceberg. So my sweater went from this:
To this:in the matter of an evening: 2 smaller cakes of yarn from the arms, 1 gigantic cake of yarn from the body and odd little bits of yarn I had used for the hem and collar. And just in case you're think I'm exaggerating about that gigantic cake of yarn, here is it for scale:
It's like the arms are regular store bought cakes and the body is a Costco (& then some!) sized cake!😳🤭🤣 Jumbo isn't descriptive enough as it's larger than jumbo sized!🙂🐘
I should have more than enough yarn (or possibly more!) than I need for my sweater project. 🙂👍🤞
Here's how my Hyozan adventure went:
Upon referring to the size chart, I knew I'd probably want to make an XS collar and sleeve while possiblly making S body. So, I followed the instructions and casted on for the collar and shoulders. Knitting the colar was fine (although I didn't feel like my "ribbing" looked like the picture). Then, it was time to do the back shoulder: I followedd the instructions and crocheted the cast on stitches and proceeded to follow the instructions. Next up: the front shoulders. The instructions said to cut the yarn for the back shoulders but, I kept it connected and simply used another (smaller) ball of yarn for the front shoulders to pick up stitches from the original crocheted cast on. It was a little fiddly but, I think I did a pretty good job so it seemed seamless. Then, it was time to join both sides for the shoulder shaping. That was also a little fiddly and after a few rows, it seemed like I was on the right track:
I finally made it to splitting out the sleeves and body and here how it was looking: Upon a closer inspection, my "V" started looking a little wonky. So, I had set it aside for a while (plus I was putting in crazy hours at work so, I had little to no brain power left in what little evenings I did have or weekends to work on this) hoping that it would look better once I had more brain power to reassess how it really looked. But, I kept looking at it and there was no denying that it was "off" on the other side of the "V". So, I ripped everything out and ...
Started working on another sweater project (although that didn't go well either😭😔🤦🤷).
I think I'm going to put a pause on this project for the time being.
