Custom Knit Phillips Dreamwear Headgear-Cover v6.0

My poor Hubs has been having issues with his sleeping so, he's been trying different things to keep his hair and head (more) compatible with his CPAP headgear.  While his previous Jacques Cousteau Hat has been working, he thought that perhaps his neck gaiter might work better.  Unfortunately, since it wasn't made to really be a headband, it was causing him headaches.  So, he asked if I could make him something similar with the leftover yarn I had from his Jacques Cousteau Hat 4.0.  So here's how that adventure went:

  1. I used my Chiaogoo 4.5mm (US 7) needles and casted on 112 stitches.
  2. I switched to my 3.5mm (US 4) and used the Jacques Cousteau Hat pattern as my guide.
  3. Follow pattern for 19 rows and bind off.

And, here's how it turned out:

Yup, I was playing my usual yarn chicken so it turned out to be more of a head band rather than a longer head gaiter.  I even had to rip out my initial bind off since I was short yarn by 15 sts! 😱😳🤦‍♀️

Hubs is going to try this out before he let's me commit to finding similar yarn to "extend" it if need be.  We'll see if it works out (or not). 🤞🙏

Well, after a night's of use, it was a no go.  He said that while it fit around his head, it would move over the course of the night.  But, he did come up with something else for me to try.  So, I ripped out the headband this whole project was put on hold until Hubs could figure something else he wanted.
