Repurposed Cable Squares

I had recently purchased a sock ruler & a pair of socks blockers from Katrinkle.  However, in my eagerness to purchase it, it didn't dawn on me how I would actually be storing it.🤦  (Plus, I couldn't store it in the original envelope it came in (it was too big) and the knee high portion of the blockers wouldn't fit in the package that the actual sock blockers came in (it came separately).)

So, what else was a knitter to do except to knit something for it, right?😉😁🙌   I pulled out my scrap yarn box and low and behold, I had found the seven (7) cable squares I had made for a cable afghan knit along (that I completely failed at and abandoned the project).  I recalled why I had abandoned that project - my "squares" weren't quite square (or even the same width and height - some "squares" were bigger than others) which meant that if I seamed it together, it would always be a little off and the blanket would never be rectangular.🤦😭   However, when I placed two (2) of the squares together, it was just about the right length as my sock ruler.😯🤔  Seeing that, I placed six (6) of my squares together to make an "envelope" and found that it was virtually what I was planning to make!👍 🙌 🎊  I ended up placing the seventh square between the "front" and middle layer (that's where the sock ruler will "live").  Now, all I had to do was to figure out how to close it.  

As I was looking at my bag, I realized that it didn't need to zip shut so, perhaps snaps would be a good option.  In theory, using snaps would take less work than me figuring out how to sew a zipper (plus, it would take me less time to put together rather than hand sewing it (much less finding the right length zipper and the fact that I don't like to hand sew stuff since I'm not very neat at it 😒))!🙌 👍  So, here's what my bag looks like so far:

See where all the clips are?  That's where I intend to put the snaps.

Now, all I need to do is just find the right snaps!  As I was trolling through Etsy, I found these snaps:

It's exactly how I envisioned it and the snaps are really cute! 😍 

This project is officially done and now my sock blockers and ruler has its own home! 🎉🙌
