I had recently came across Churchmouse Yarns & Tea's Family Bunny Slippers pattern and just fell in love with it! 🥰🥰❤️❤️❤️ Since it was around Valentine's Day and both of my mother's were telling me how cold it's been, it was a perfect opportunity for me to try my hand at these slippers (aka uwabaki (上履き)). 😉👍😁
After a false start (which was totally on me as I didn't thoroughly read the pattern at first), this pattern is actually a really quick knit and wasn't too hard at all, particularly once you get a
basic idea of what you're supposed to do and can see how it's supposed to shape up. I had a few false starts with the ears as well (also because it's been a while since I wrapped and turned anything) but
that too, was quick to make once I figured out what I was doing and I actually was able to finish up the uwabaki quite quickly after that. In
reality, a pair of uwabaki could be done in less than a day.
I did make a few adjustments for my Girl no haha's version as the actual medium size seemed too big for her; instead of 35 rows for the foot, I did 30 rows; then I knitted 15 rows for the toes and made the medium ears (I was thinking I could made small ears so that it could be a dwarf bunny🐰 but the small ears were way too small 😔🤷). Here's how her uwabaki came out:
Then for my mom, I made her version using the small size with 28 rows for the foot, 11 rows for the toes and the S ears. Her uwabaki came out super cute! 🥰❤️😍 (it was so cute that I seriously contemplated about "stealing" her uwabaki! 😲😁🤭. Fortunately for my mom, I rarely ever have cold feet so, having a pair of these uwabaki would be wasted on me. 😭🤷😋🤭). Here's how her uwabaki turned out:
I hope they find their uwabaki keeps them nice and warm as well as bring them a smile whenever they look at it! 🐰🥰😍❤️
UP-DATE: I was finally able to deliver my MIL's Uwabaki to her and ... she loves it! Here's what they look like on her:
