Hubby finally caved and picked a colour for the Berroco Mantra yarn so that I could try making his headgear using silk (silk is supposed to be very gentle on one's hair and not leave any indents; hopefully, this will help with some slight head pain he's been experiencing). Thankfully, LoveCrafts.com was having a sale so I was able to pick up a ball. It finally came in (and I was finally done with my other project) so, it was time to up-grade Hubby's headgear (both his actual headgear & pad)! 🙌 🎉
For his actual headgear, using my Chiaogoo Spin US 6 needles and a 14" cable, I used v2.0 as a starting point and instead of using stockinette st, I used Seed st instead:
- Used the provisional cast on that I use for socks and casted on 30 sts
- Seed st for 5 rows
- Decrease 2 sts every other row until there are 12 sts
- Decrease 3 sts every other row until there are for 3 sts
- Seed st for 60 rows
- Bind off
- Repeat for other side.
- Cast on 12 sts and join in the round
- K 30 rows (in the round)
- K3, turn work around, k2, m1, k2, m1, k4, m1, k2, m1, k2 for 16 sts
- Turn work around (work flat)
- K (in the flat) for 10 rows
- K2, k2tog, k, k2tog, k4, k, ssk, k, ssk, k for 12 sts then connect in the round
- K 30 rows (in the round) again
- Bind off
- Pick up & cast on 12 sts inside the slit area & using Seed St, knit for 10 rows, pick up 12 sts & cast off.
