I have a friend who's wonderful at hand sewing. Occasionally, she will bless with one of her handicrafts. In turn, I return the favor by providing her knitted goods to keep her nice and warm during the long winter months (& her long days in her cold office). Lately, I've gotten the crochet bug and had (finally) came across a ghost pattern that was so cute that I had to try to make it for her (https://craftbyrio.com/crochet-cute-ghost-for-halloween/). Sidebar:. My friend L-O-V-E-S Halloween! ๐๐ฅฐ๐ so whenever I can, I try to find fun Halloween items to send her.
Over the course of an afternoon & evening, I finished making her little Ghostie. However, the hat pattern that it came with was ... ok ๐; it just didn't seem festive enough particularly since I was planning on adding this to her holiday gift. Upon lamenting about my dilemma to Hubs, he suggested that I give it a Halloween coloured beanie instead which was brilliant! ๐๐
Since I wasn't sure how I was going to go about it, I figured I'd knit it instead of crocheting it and here's how it went:
Using my Chiaogoo 4.5mm needles (US 8), I casted on 52 sts, then did a 2x2 rib in the round for 2 rows of black before alternating orange and black stripes for 5 rows before decreasing the beanie for another 10 rows in black. I finished it off by capping the beanie with a black & orange pom-pom (using my Clover 20mm pom pom maker). Since it was so small, it only took me an hour (maybe less) to complete the hat (even with a few false starts).
And, here's what my Halloween Ghostie looks like:
I hope this Ghostie brightens up my friend's holiday. ๐ค๐๐ฅฐ๐๐❄️
