This past week, I thought I'd check back at my local Savers to see if anymore "good" yarn showed up (actually, I had gone there looking for something else and decided to check the yarn stash since I was there. :P).
And, look what I found:
Another two (2) balls of Aarlan Alapaca-Silk! I paid a bit more for these two balls but, I figured it's ok since it's still a steal and a portion of my payment will go to charity so, that's good too. :)
Now, I have more than enough for a sweater! :) It might even have enough yarn for pockets! ;)
This is my amimono no monogatari (my knitting story). I always wanted to learn how to knit and I'm finally doing it! :) This is my story (and adventures) in knitting (and finding cool knitting stuff and places! ;)). :)

Tabi No Monogatari v3a
You must be wondering where Blog Title: Tabi No Monogatari v3 is since this is titled v3a. Well, the truth be told is that I'm still working on Tabi No Monogatari v3 and today, I lost everything I documented about my WIP (Work In Progress) tabi! :'( I'm so upset that I had to tell you about my woes and that I feel like crying! :'(
I was in the process of documenting my latest "snag" in my project and accidentally added something to my blog (I was up-dating it on my teeny tiny phone screen). So, I tried to delete and "undo" it ... in that process I actually deleted my whole blog! *sob* :'( So, now, I'm trying to recreate what I've already done (which I can't totally remember) and will try my best to document what I can - again.
But, alas, I'm not confident that I can recreate it. So, as a forewarning, my blog: Tabi No Monogatari v3 may not be as good (or accurate) as my prior blogs have been. Which, in turn, will mean that I'll have to start another pair of socks for myself to document my sock progress and help document my perfect pair. *sigh* :'( (I was hoping to start on a sweater project and another sock for my Hubby after this endeavor.)
I think I need a drink! :P And chips. :P Maybe even chocolate! :P
Well, at least I had the find of the year today; that helps ... :P
Now, I just have to decide: do I dare recreate it and keep up-dating things directly onto my blog (I often use my phone to do up-dates) or should I be safe and use something else to document it and just copy and paste it onto my blog ... decisions, decisions ...
Drink and chips first ... decisions later ... :P ... I don't think I can deal with this just yet ... I'm still grieving over losing all that information! :'(

They Were Right
You'll here it from a lot of knitters: Goodwill, Savers, and other like thrift shops are often diamonds in the rough for finding good yarn. I often thought that was true ... if you lived in a cooler climate and in an area with a lot of knitters. NEVER where I live (which is in a warm climate although there's a decent population of knitters here).
Plus, where I'm from, many of the prior generation of knitters were really thrifty knitters and loved their cheap(er) acrylic yarn, like Red Heart. Even my grandmother loved that cheaper acrylic stuff: it's cheap, it comes in a ton of colors with a lot of yardage and you can throw it in the washer and dryer - what's not to love? (Besides the fact that it's really hot to wear in an already warm climate and it can be itchy! :P) Even I admit it, I starting off with a stash of One Pound of Red Heart yarn. :P
As my hubby and I love to troll through our local thrift stores (they are great places to find great kitchen wares and other household goods - At one of my local Goodwills, I found a Le Creuset pan and even a Wolfard lamp!), I usually just glance to see what kind of yarn they may (or may not) have. Often, if there's any yarn at all, it's Red Heart or some other acrylic stuff. Admittedly, I've become a yarn snob and love natural yarns; if it's going to be acrylic, it'll have to be something other than Red Heart for me. :P
But today, the world showed me that even where I lived, I could come across a diamond in the rough as this is what I found today at my local Savers: Real alpaca-silk and Icelandic Lopi yarn! OMG!!! THIS is the find of the year!!! :D ♧
Each ball seemed to be intact (i.e. unused); only the second ball of Lopi was missing its label band. In total, I only spent $11.45 on eight (8!) balls of Aarlan alpaca-silk and two (2) balls of Reynolds Icelandic Lopi yarn. (For those non-knitters out there: THIS is a steal!!!)
It looks like I'll have enough to make a sweater (with the Aarlan) (*yay* another sweater!!) and a hat or two (with the Lopi). While it'll probably be too warm to wear these items here (I'll be lucky if it cools down enough in the winter to use it once), I'm totally going to take these babies with me on my next winter trip (presuming I can come up with suitable pattern and complete it by my next winter trip)! :D ♡
I'm still getting over the shock of actually finding this stuff here, much less at a thrift shop! :P
